An Internet access point consists of the address to the Internet connection of your mobile operator. 3G subscribers connect via 3G and usually have an Internet Access Point preinstalled. If you don’t have an access point and need help to set one up, please contact your mobile operator.
Please note that you will need to access the Internet via 3G, GPRS Internet or Edge. WAP or GPRS-WAP are not sufficient.
CONNECT WAYFINDER ACCESS TO A GPS RECEIVER
Connect a GPS receiver
The GPS receiver is connected via Bluetooth (if you don't have a mobile phone with an integrated GPS). It should not be placed more than 10 metres/30 feet from the phone. The GPS receiver gets signals from the satellites when it is placed in clear view of the sky.
Move to an open area if you are close to tall buildings or other objects that may impede the connection. On your first try it could take a few minutes, and even up to twenty minutes. After frequent connections to the satellites, the signals are received within a few seconds. Follow the instructions below to connect your external GPS.
- You will need a GPS reciever to recieve GPS position data and to fully use the Wayfinder application. If you don't have a GPS, you can still plan routes but you will not be able to navigate and get voice instructions. Please follow the instructions below to connect a GPS receiver.
- To begin with, charge the battery of the GPS receiver before you turn it on.
- Please read the instructions manual that came with your GPS receiver.
- Make sure that the GPS has a clear view of the sky; e.g. put it next to a window if you are inside a building or on the dashboard of your car.
- Wait until the receiver indicates that it is receiving signals from the satellites.
- Open the Wayfinder application on your phone. You should be asked to connect to a Bluetooth device. Answer yes.
- Select your Bluetooth GPS receiver from the list. Wayfinder Access will tell you if the GPS are connected or not.
PIN codes
Sometimes you need a PIN code when connecting the GPS receiver. The PIN code for the GPS receiver differs depending on the brand. Most GPS receivers (including the Wayfinder GPS) use 0000, with the exception of:
• Emtac: 0183
• Falcom Navi: 1111
• Holux: 6268
• M-tec: 0183
• Parrot: 1234
• Royal Digital: 1234
If you have another GPS receiver, and 0000 is not working, please check with the GPS supplier to find out the PIN code.
GPS Symbols
Place the GPS receiver not more than 10 metres/30 feet from the phone and make sure that it is on.
The GPS receiver is connected to the phone, but your position cannot be pinpointed. Is the GPS-receiver receiving satellite signals? Place the GPS-receiver in a clear view of the sky, e.g on the dashboard of the car or by the window if you are indoors.
The number of green dots specifies the quality of the GPS-reception, i.e. the accuracy of the position. Three green bars indicate excellent GPS reception.
The Wayfinder icon is rotating when the application processes any request from the user, e.g. searching for destinations and calculating routes.
